Sculptra is a dermal filler with an active ingredient known as poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Unlike traditional fillers that fill in lost volume, Sculptra acts as a stimulatory filler. This means it stimulates your body into building up collagen and elastin and forming new fibrous support structures under the surface of your skin. Sculptra’s tiny particles stimulate collagen and elastin production. Patient’s experience ongoing improvement of the signs of aging resulting in a more natural appearance with less maintenance over time. Patients see some immediate volumizing of the skin however, the most impactful results will develop over the span of months as collagen is slowly produced. An optimal treatment plan of 3 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart is ideal.
Before your Sculptra™ treatment, you will meet with our medical professional who will perform a consultation to learn more about you including your overall health, goals, current medications, and history of cosmetic procedures.
On the day of your nonsurgical Sculptra™ treatment, the medical professional will clean the treatment area and give you a topical anesthetic to numb the area of your skin being treated.
With a small needle, the filler will be injected underneath the skin. You may feel some mild pressure but patients generally feel little to no pain.
Once the injections are complete, the medical professional will gently massage the filler into your face in order to make sure that it’s evenly distributed.
Most patients experience little to no downtime and are able to continue with normal activities. They are happy to leave the clinic comfortable and happy with their appearance.
Redness, pin prick marks, slight tenderness and swelling is usually noticeable immediately after but this usually subsides after a few days.
