Milia Extraction

Safe, professional removal of stubborn white bumps, revealing a refreshed, radiant complexion.

What Is Milia Extraction?

Milia are small, firm, white cysts that form when keratin and dead skin cells become trapped beneath the skin. They commonly appear around the eyes, cheeks, nose and forehead. Although milia are generally harmless, they can be difficult to remove safely at home.

At MD Treatment Lounge, suitable milia are carefully extracted by our trained medical estheticians using sterile tools and precise techniques. Every client’s skin and the location of the milia are assessed before extraction to determine whether the treatment can be performed safely.

Why Milia Extraction Must Be Combined with a Facial

Milia extraction is available only as part of one of our facial treatments. Before extraction, the skin must be thoroughly cleansed, softened and hydrated. Properly preparing the skin helps make the extraction more controlled and comfortable while reducing unnecessary irritation.

If you are visiting specifically for milia extraction, you will be required to book our Lunch Break Facial. This provides the essential skin preparation needed before extraction while offering an efficient option for clients who do not require a more extensive facial.

You may also add milia extraction to any of the following facial treatments:

Milia extraction is performed only when considered appropriate following an assessment. The number of milia that can be treated during one appointment will depend on their size, location and the condition of the surrounding skin.

A Note About Milia Around the Eyes

Your safety comes first. We do not extract milia located directly on the eyelid or along the lash line because these areas are extremely delicate and are positioned very close to the eye.

Milia in these locations should be assessed and treated by a dermatologist or qualified eye-care specialist in a setting specifically equipped for procedures involving the eyelids and immediate eye area.

We may be able to treat suitable milia located around the orbital area when they are safely positioned away from the eyelid and lash line. This will be determined during your skin assessment.

How to Know If You Have Milia

You might have milia if you notice:

  • Small, white or pearl-like bumps under the skin that don’t pop or clear easily.
  • Firm, painless spots commonly found around the eyes, cheeks, nose, or forehead.
  • Bumps that don’t change or go away despite regular exfoliation or skincare products.
  • Skin that appears textured or uneven in areas with clustered milia.

If these signs sound familiar, it’s best to book a professional consultation. Our team will confirm the diagnosis and recommend the safest, most effective extraction method for your skin type.

Our Approach

Your appointment begins with an assessment of your skin and the areas of concern. Your selected facial is performed first to cleanse, soften and properly prepare the skin.

When appropriate, our medical esthetician will then use specialized sterile tools to carefully extract the milia while minimizing irritation to the surrounding skin. After treatment, soothing skincare products are applied, and you will receive personalized aftercare recommendations to support healing and help reduce future buildup.

Have A Question?

Common Questions

No. Milia extraction must be performed with one of our facial treatments because the skin needs to be properly cleansed, softened and hydrated beforehand. If you are coming specifically for milia removal, our Lunch Break Facial is the minimum required facial.

For your safety, we do not extract milia located directly on the eyelid or along the lash line. These delicate areas should be assessed and treated by a dermatologist or qualified eye-care specialist with the appropriate equipment and expertise for procedures close to the eye.

Yes, suitable milia extraction may be added to any of our eligible facial treatments. Our esthetician will assess the location and condition of the milia before proceeding.

It's not recommended. Milia form beneath the skin, and attempting to remove them yourself can lead to scarring or infection. Professional extraction ensures safe and clean removal.

The procedure is typically quick and minimally uncomfortable. Most clients describe a slight pressure but no significant pain.

The extraction portion varies depending on the number, size and location of the milia. Your total appointment time will also include the facial required to properly prepare your skin.

With proper skincare and regular exfoliation, recurrence can be minimized. Our specialists will recommend a skincare routine to help prevent future buildup.

There's little to no downtime. You may experience slight redness that subsides within a few hours.
